Above is a selection of images from Emma and Tim's July wedding at Richmond registry office by London wedding photographer Minna Rossi. Documentary style wedding photography is generally very relaxed and mainly unposed and natural -a great way to capture your day, still letting you enjoy it fully with your guests. I find doing unobtrusive candid portraits with a longer lens mixed with casually posed small group shots works well. I tend to concentrate on portraits of family and friends, but also like to get still life of the surroundings to create a context; for example, details of the venue, sculptures and flowers at the terraced gardens near by and the drinks, menu etc. at the restaurant, where the reception was held.
Emma and Tim's wedding ceremony was held at Richmond registry office (http://www.richmond.gov.uk/registration_services). It is a very popular ceremony venue, especially for small, intimate family weddings. They have a lightfilled waiting room for your guests that is perfect for natural portraits and the staff really look after everyone -the registrars at Richmond Registry Office are some of the nicest, most friendly and helpful I have met, which makes it such a pleasure to shoot there. Richmond is by the Thames with lots of green space close by for romantic couple's portraits and group wedding photographs, but Richmond Register Office also has a secluded back garden and they allow confetti at the front door (fun cofetti shots, yippee!).
